When You’re Unsteady

Life is full of uncertainty. Life gives you many moments of feeling unsettled.

It comes in different forms; from not knowing how you’ll make it through the awkward dinner at your grandparent’s house to not knowing what you’ll do after college.
The questions of wondering what other people think of you to the uncertainty of “does he doesn’t he like me” that we all face at one point or another.

The moments of facing discontentment with where you are, but being completely uncertainty of what you really want to do.

I wish I could sit here at write “been there, done that, here’s how to get through it…”
But in all honesty, I think I am still there, still doing it. But here’s what’s helping me get through it.

Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?  So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about
tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

What does this passage of scripture have to do with being discontent?

Well, what is it that freaks us out the most in life? Our futures.

The discontentment often comes from a place of uncertainty, not sure if you’ve done the right things. Or if you did, how on earth will you get from where you are, to where you need to be?

If God will take care of what you will eat and wear, don’t you think that He also will take care of where you’ll go and what He has planned for you to do?

Yes.

Verse 33 says, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

If you’re feeling like God has more for you but you don’t know where you should go, or if you are uncertain of you are or what you should be doing: SEEK GOD.

It’s the simplest solution to every problem and the truest answer for every question.

Pursue God, that’s the first step to where you need to go.

When you are with God, He will keep you steady, only God can satisfy.
